The big news is that the merger with Warrington Community Care (WCC) was completed on schedule on the 1st of April and we are now a larger and stronger organisation for it. With three new services joining us WCL is now a significant provider of services to people with mental health issues and when people ask who WCL works with, we can avoid labels and simply say we work with people who need our "support to be active citizens".

In brief the three new services are:

  • Lodge Lane Nursing home in Bewsey where twenty people live and we have XX very welcome new colleagues working there
  • Westleigh House in Stockton Heath where eighteen people live and we have XX equally welcome new colleagues based there
  • A Supported Housing Network which is distributed around the Borough and support fifty-seven people living in their own tenancies, supported by six very appreciated new colleagues who have joined the existing WCL Community Network.

Of course a legal assumption of responsibility is only the beginning and there is still lots of work to do together to embed these services into WCL, getting to know each other and organising joint training, to sort out contracts, suppliers and a range of other administrative tasks as well as to support colleagues to start using our systems and to map out how we can work together to develop their services. Mostly behind the scenes this is keeping us very busy and anybody who has visited the WCL Central Office lately will have seen how many boxes and pieces of equipment we have still to find a home for!
