Heathside residential home for older people was buzzing as the people who live their celebrated it's 50th Birthday in style. They had lots of lovely food and music but more than that they had lots of special Heathside memories and experiences to share. Sylvia Waterhouse has lived at Heathside for eight years said “living in a place like Heathside means I have met many people & have made lots of friends."
When Edith who was taking a short break at Heathside was asked was she enjoying the party she said “It’s nice to see people that care & I enjoy the Parties."
Beryl Biddle seconded what Edith said by saying “Everyone is so helpful & friendly. The staff can't do enough for you."
Joyce Houghton said "I like the sense of security & that you are being looked after all the time, it's like a big family."
It was an emotional day for everyone to celebrate the history of Heathside and a pause for thought for all the people who have lived there over time. For some colleagues who have been there for a long time and supported many people over the years it was a particularly poignant day. Diane Preece has worked at Heathside for nearly 30 years Diane said "Heathside has a "Big" heart & may it carry on beating for another 50 years."
Even the visitors enjoy coming to Heathside, Jane Rigby Music 4 All Entertainer said " I love playing for people here they like to join in & enjoy themselves."
Michael Sheppard, Chief Executive Officer of Warrington Community Living said “Heathside has been with us since we set up as a charity 24 years ago it is part of our history. As an organisation we are committed to the continual development of the service. We are always looking for opportunity to make a positive difference to the people we support and that shows with the comments from the people who live at Heathside.”
